How does it work?
A non-toxic surface treatment that can reduce air pollution and keep concrete clean? Does it sound to good to be true? Let us introduce the beauty of photocatalysis.
The key component in our products is titania nanoparticles. Such particles are photocatalysts, which means that they can speed up chemical reactions in the presence of UV-light (daylight is enough). Examples of such reactions are the break-down of NOx-gasses or organic materials like bacteria, fungi and algae. With the help of photocatalysis, NOx-gasses are efficiently broken down to harmless nitrates and organic compounds are broken down to CO2 and water. The result is cleaner air and cleaner surfaces with a green product. A key property of a catalyst is that it is not used up in the reaction, meaning that as long as the treated surface has access to daylight and rain, the cleaning processes will continue. This is why we believe that our technology provides sustainable solutions for a cleaner world.
Cleaner Air
Poor air-quality is a problem in cities all over the world, which is a threat to human health. According to WHO 91% of the world`s population live in places where the air quality exceeds their guideline limits and 1 out of 9 deaths every year are caused by polluted air. One of the most harmful pollutants is NOx-gases, known to cause asthma and respiratory infections. Decision makers all over the world need to find concrete measures to reduce the pollution. Our solution is to take advantage of photocatalysis by treating surfaces with titania nanoparticles.
Cleaner Surfaces
Concrete is the most used human-made building material in the world, due to its versatility and long-lasting stability. However, over time, the visual appearance of concrete surfaces changes from fresh and light to dirty and dark. Concrete-owners therefore tend to spend time and resources on surface-cleaning. Wooden surfaces suffer both from biological attack resulting in dirty surfaces, and water-absorption causing rot. Our solution is to treat concrete and wood surfaces with our photocatalytic and water-repellent products, to get both cleaner and more durable surfaces over time.
Cleaner Environment
Conventional products used to clean buildings and infrastructure often contain biocides, which are chemicals intended to kill living organisms. The long-time impact of biocides, in particular if they accumulate in ecosystems, might have detrimental effects on nature. Our solution is to replace biocides with environmentally friendly surface treatment products. Titania is non-hazardous, and the self-cleaning effect of the surfaces runs on natural light and rain, representing a sustainable alternative for the environment.
